Fly
November 24, 2021

Did you know that turkeys can fly? I didn’t until I saw a video of one flying and landing in a tree. Most people dont ever see them fly because they tend to stay on the ground. It reminds me that some people have the ability to go higher in their relationship with the Lord, but dont strive to go to the next level. Yet, God always wants us to grow and increase from strength to strength and glory to glory.  Colossians 1:10 (ESV) “…walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

Heavy Weight

Although wild turkeys have the ability to fly, domestic turkeys have excess weight and less muscle preventing them from taking flight.  Domesticated turkeys can weigh up to 40 pounds while wild turkeys are lighter, allowing them to run faster. What’s holding you down and keeping you from being, having, and doing all that God desires for you? Apostle Paul in Hebrews 12:1 (NLT) gives instructions on how to shape up so we can finish the race and soar. He states, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”

Look Up

Life can cause us to be consumed with temporary things and put eternal things on the back burner. God doesn’t mind us taking care of and stewarding what he has given us; the problem becomes when our relationship with him and what he has called us to do are no longer a priority for us. In order for us to fly or soar spiritually, our mindsets and focus have to change from an earthly mentality to a heavenly mentally.   Colossians 3:1-4 (NIV) says, “Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

PRAY THIS PRAYER:
“Father, I am sitting here thinking about your faithfulness and goodness. The list is extremely long of all the wonderful things you have done for me, in me, and through me. You love me despite my mistakes and disobedience. Who is like you LORD, who is seated on high?  You O’ Lord are exalted forever.  Forgive me for allowing my circumstances, insecurities, or others to hinder me from going higher in my walk with you.  I repent for not always doing what you have called me to do.  Help me to accomplish dreams and soar in my divine purpose and destiny.  In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
